Legacy

The purpose of Legacy is to explore the subject of legacies in many different literary works. The main theme that this website explores is how it is important for all of us to create our own legacies. How we all need to start building our legacies now and what will happen if we don't manage to build our own legacies. This website started as a culminating task for my Grade 12 English course. In class we explored many themes in literary works such as Hamlet, Raisin in the Sun, The Great Gatsby, and many more. As well as these titles, I also hope to explore the subject of Legacy in media and literature outside of what I have learned in the classroom. My plan for this website is to also convey how I am building my own legacy. What I am doing in my spare time, my hobbies, extra-curriculars, as well as any additional projects from other courses. During your time here, I hope you can take away something from my blogs and posting, as well as learn a thing or two about who I am. If you are interested in how many famous titles teach about the importance of legacies, I invite you to check out my blogs. I hope you enjoy!

About Me

Hello and welcome to Legacy. I am Petar Zmak, a Grade 12 high school student attending Chaminade College School. I have a passion in both the arts and technology. Since a young age, I have been playing both piano and guitar and enjoy playing both classical and rock music. Among music, I also spend a lot of time with technology. I am a member of my school's robotics team and enjoy both programming and electrical work. In my free time, I enjoy playing many strategy games such as Chess and Starcraft. I plan to continue my education at Ryerson University and follow my passion for technology by majoring in Computer Engineering.

Why Legacy?

Why did I choose to explore the subject of legacy? It originally came to my head when I wrote my essay on Hamlet. While breaking down the famous "To be or not to be" soliloquy in Hamlet, I realized that a large part of the speech talks about how death is a mystery. The thought that no one knows what happens after death resonated with me. It made me realize that there is no guarantee that we will still exist after my death. And so I realized that we can only make sure that we will have life after death by creating a legacy. This website is my legacy. It also attempts to invite you to begin creating your own legacy.
